History

The city lies beneath the bottom of the Great Salt Lake Basin. The distance is approximately eight miles north of Salt Lake City. In 1935, Woods Cross was chartered by the Reservoir and Pipeline Company. In doing so, the water shares of the members of the company transferred their capital to the new trustees of the city.

Woods Cross was once an original incorporated area that extends in the northern boundary of Centerville. This is located south of the South Lake. In 1848, the development of the area began to widen as other settlers have moved to the area to settle or make a trade. The early settlers such as Daniel Wood, whom the city was named, made across the Jordan River and began to make a livelihood there.
